Edinburgh Stonemasons specialise in the conservation and restoration of stone buildings and structures. We use traditional techniques and materials which incorporate today’s best practices. We pride ourself in being traditional stonemasons and are experts in using lime mortar.

Edinburgh Stonemasons, established by Stewart Inkster, are based in Edinburgh and undertake work throughout Edinburgh and further afield (Scotland). Our experienced stonemasons' work is of the highest quality and standard.

Our staff are trained by Dalkeith Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) and the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) in Edinburgh and Midlothian and have attended all Scottish Lime Centre courses assuring our expertise in the use of Lime.

We are the Buccleuch Estate preferred masonry contractor having just completed 31 chimney repairs and several large wall repairs for the Estate (Lothians and Borders). We also carry works out for several conservation architects across Scotland and just recently started the repair of stone walls for the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

We also operate a rope access division offering a convenient cheaper alternative to scaffolding performing tasks such as inspections, roofing, guttering, slating, general building repairs, stone repairs, lime wash and other services using this method.
