Cockburnspath Tower (Berwick) - Past & Present

Situated near the town of that name this 15th century tower of warm red sandstone is readily visible from a road but difficult to reach on foot. Only one wall stands to any height, the others being reduced to ground level. The basement is vaulted and the walls are some six feet thick. Cockburnspath is in poor condition and as recently as 2012 there was a collapse. It lies open to the wind and weather in a state of total neglect.
