Following a tireless campaign by its owner James Brown, Baltersan Castle in Ayrshire looks set to be restored.
Exciting plans by a new charity have been revealed to save the 16th century tower, reconstructing it to its former glory with a view to establishing an international music school plus high-quality tourist accommodation.
A public meeting to launch the innovative scheme is to take place on Tuesday 5 February in the Carrick Centre , Culzean Road, Maybole at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
There are also plans for two documentaries to be filmed during the redevelopment ?" which is expected to take five years ?" giving a valuable insight into the challenges and triumphs of restoring historical buildings.
Baltersan Castle, which was abandoned around 1745 and has been a roofless ruin ever since, is located near the town of Maybole in Ayrshire. To appreciate its magnificent setting, you can take a drone's eye view of Baltersan Castle below.
Members of the Scottish Castles Association who met James on many castle tours and were privileged to explore Baltersan with him in person will vouch for his passion for ?" and determination to restore ?" his beloved Baltersan and we are delighted to see his dream of bringing Baltersan back to life come true.
