Lochhouse Tower - Dumfriesshire

Lochhouse Tower
Lochhouse Tower, Moffat - A wonderful place to stay!

Lochhouse Tower, situated in Moffat, is a strong 16th century tower house of 3 storeys and an attic, formerly within a corbelled-out parapet. The tower is rectangular in plan, and has rounded corners. There are several gunloops.

The original entrance led to a turnpike stair in one corner, and into the vaulted basement. The interior has been greatly altered. It was a property of the Johnstones of Corehead in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was restored about 1980 and has, again, been recently extensively restored by a Scottish Castles Association member.

Lochhouse Tower is available to rent
